Bowling Bombers Take GCL Quad

The Bowling Bombers matched up in the first GCL quad of the season on Tuesday December 13th. The Bombers and Elder Panthers sat atop of the GCL with a 2-0 and 1-0 record with La Salle and Moeller sitting 3 and 4.

In game one, the Bombers and Panthers came out with dueling 1100s. Parker Nowlin and CJ Herbers were high men for the Panthers with games of 258 and 245. For the Bombers, Aaron Bickford shot a career high 267 to pace St. Xavier. Andrew Berkemeier and Keegan Barbeethrew a 236 and 225 while Ryan Kreuzer and Tyler Brown added a 213 and a 211. Moeller had 3 bowlers crack 200 and La Salle had two as well. After one, the Bombers held a slight lead over the Panthers 1152 to 1110. Moeller and La Salle trailed with a 982 and 959.

In game two, the Bombers went to bench and rolled on La Salle's lanes. Aaron Bickford finished his 491 with a 224 with Andrew Berkemeiershooting a 201 (437 series) and Ryan Kreuzerputting up his first 400 of the year with a 200 for a 413. Brady Johnson completed a 191 and Keegan Barbee finished with a 170 for a 395. Elder got hot with 4 games north of 200 and shot a 1066 to the Bombers 986. La Salle, led by a pair of 225 plus games, put up a 1018 with Moeller rolling 5 games in the 170s for a 867. Going to bakers, Elder led with a 2176 followed by St. X (2138), La Salle (1977), and Moeller (1849).

In game one of bakers, the Bombers, shooting a 201, lost pins to both Elder, 214, and La Salle, 239. In game 2, the Bombers began to crawl their way back with a 241 to match Elder's 204 and La Salle's 138. In game thre, both Elder and St. X put together strings of 5 strikes with the Bombers etching out a 230 to 221. Going into the final baker, the Bombers trailed the Panthers by 5 pins. The Bombers completed an 881 series with a 209 game while Elder shot an 813 with a final game of 174. La Salle threw an 841 and Moeller put up a 716. The Bombers get 3 wins on the day with a final total of 3019, followed by Elder with a 2989, La Salle with 2818, and Moeller at 2565.

The Bombers move to 6 and 2 on the season and 5-0 in the GCL. The Panthers suffer their first loss of the season 4-1 and 3-1 in the GCL. La Salle picks up their first win to sit 1-4 and 1-3 in the GCL. Moeller falls to 0-5 in the GCL and 1-6 on the year.

Record Performances
Aaron Bickford's personal best of 267 also places him as the 43rd best score in school history and his 491 was 29th best 2 game series.

As a team, the Bombers 3019 was the 3rd best team match series in school history. The 881 baker series is the 7th best and their 241 was the 83rd best baker game. The Bombers first game of 1152 was the 6th best in school history. This marks the first win over Elder in 22 months. The Bombers last beat Elder February 5, 2021.

This also marks the first time the Bombers have won a quad match since January 12, 2017.
