Bombers Finish 10th at Holiday Classic

On Sunday, December 11th the Bowling Bombers rolled in the Holiday Classic. This would mark the 12th time the Bombers have rolled in the classic with the highest finish being 3rd. The format of the tournament changed this year to 3 individual games with 2 bakers for qualifying. The top 16 would then match-up bracket style, in a best 2 of 3 baker format. The tournament also introduced Route 66 as the oil pattern versus the Western Bowl House Shot it has used since the tournaments inception.

The Bombers were paired with the Varsity Blue team in game one. Andrew Berkemeier was high man on the team with a 199 game and Brady Johnson shooting 191 for second. The Bombers put together an 896 which had them sitting in 8th place but only 30 pins above the cut line.

In game 2, Keegan Barbee started his game with an open before running off a string of strikes to the 9th frame for a 276. Ryan Kreuzer came in off the bench for game two putting up a 189. Tyler Brown shot a 182 for the Bombers. The Bombers 976 pushed them to 4th place and over 100 pins from the cut line.

In game 3, Keegan Barbee and Andrew Berkemeierthre games of 214 and 203. Ryan Kreuzer and Brady Johnson added games of 178 and 177 for the Bombers. With a 933 game total and a score of 2805, the Bombers had solidified their spot in the top 16. In bakers, the Bombers shot games of 145 and 185 for a qualifying total of 3135 and locked in the 3rd spot.

After Lunch, the Bombers matched up with GCL rival Elder in a 3 vs 14 match. The Bombers were swept in 2 straight games 212-190 and 234-184. The Bomebrs would finish 10th as the second seeded Centerville Elks lost to the 15th seeded Fairfield. The Mason Comets who swept the St X Blue team would go on to win the tournament from the number 1 seed.

Keegan Barbee's 665 was 4th best on the day as Keegan collected another All-Tournament Team Award. This is his 2nd All-Tournament award in as many touranments.

Record Performances:
Keegan Barbee's 276 was the 30th best individual game thrown in school history. His 665 3 game series was the 26th best thrown.

Upcoming Schedule:
The Bombers then have their first GCL quad of the year at Northwest Lanes on the 13th and finish December off with an away match against Lakota West at Gilmore Lanes.

Around the GCL:
The Bombers sit atop the GCL at 2-0 and in a virtual tie with Elder at 1-0. La Salle sits in third at 0-1 and Moeller in 4th at 0-2.
