Conference Name: Greater Catholic League (GCL)

Coach Name: Matthew Hott

Standout Athletes

St. Xavier High School boasts a talented trio of athletes set to make a significant impact this season: Andrew Berkemeier, Aaron Bickford, and Keegan Barbee. These skilled bowlers are the backbone of the team's competitive edge.

Team Goals

After finishing as runners-up in the competitive Greater Catholic League (GCL) for the past three seasons, the St. Xavier bowling team is on a mission to clinch the GCL title for the first time since 2012. Their commitment to this goal reflects their dedication and desire for success.

Season Schedule and Preparation

The team's schedule is strategically designed to prepare them for success. They will face tough GCL opponents in 8 challenging matches, in addition to competing against teams from the Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) and Greater Miami Conference (GMC). With 8 tournaments on the schedule, the team is focused on honing their skills for the postseason.

Team Traditions and Unity

St. Xavier High School bowling has a strong emphasis on team building and unity. They kick off the season with a preseason tailgate to support the St. X Football team, promoting camaraderie among the players and their families. "Meet the Team" night is another early-season event where bowlers and families come together to build relationships.

Throughout the season, the team enjoys a Christmas party and unique activities like last year's trip to the Fowling Warehouse, testing their skills outside of bowling. An intersquad doubles tournament fosters camaraderie and healthy competition, allowing JV and Varsity Bowlers to roll together.

Regular team chapel visits with Coach Dave Eby further enhance team cohesion, both on and off the lanes. The season concludes with a Team Banquet to celebrate the success of the bowlers, not just in their sport but also in the classroom.

Community Involvement

St. Xavier High School bowling is committed to giving back to the community. Before the pandemic, they collaborated with the school's Big Brothers Program to host a bowling weekend, fostering connections with younger students. During the summer, the team volunteers at the St. X camp, where they coach and inspire young bowlers, imparting their knowledge and passion for the sport.

Exciting Season Prospects

The team is on a remarkable streak of 14 seasons representing St. Xavier at the district level. With Andrew Berkemeier, Aaron Bickford, and Keegan Barbee all on track to finish their St. X bowling careers in the top 20 for pin count, the team's future looks bright.

Moreover, the team is on the cusp of achieving their 250th victory as a program this season, an impressive milestone. Additionally, Coach Hott is approaching his 100th career victory with St. Xavier, further emphasizing the team's strong tradition of success.

St. Xavier High School bowling is poised for a season of hard-fought competition, camaraderie, and community involvement, all while striving for their goal of capturing the GCL title and continuing their legacy of excellence.
