Bombers Move to 2-0 in GCL

The Bombers December rush continued on Thursday the 7th as they traveled to Crossgate Lanes to face the Moeller Crusaders in the second GCL match of the season.  The Bombers entered 3 and 2 on the season, 1-0 in the GCL; Moeller entered 1 and 1 with an 0-1 GCL standing

 

In game one, the Bombers came out hot.  Keegan Barbee set the tone with a 231 and Connor Cahill lead his pair with a 218.  Brock Lusby and  Aaron Bickford put up games of 205 and 200 for the Bombers.  Andrew Berkemeierrolled a 180 for the Bombers to finish the game with a 1034.  The Moeller crusaders were led by William Bimonte shooting a 234.  The Bombers held a 1034 to 895 game one lead.  

 

Aaron Bickford finished his first series of the year with a statement rolling a 257 for the Bombers in game two.  Bickford finished with a 457.  Keegan Barbee continued to play well in GCL play rolling a 240 for a 471 series.  Andrew Berkemeierhad a bounce back game rolling a 216 for a 396 series.  Connor Cahill struggled in the middle frames until a ball change put him over the 400 series park with a 186.  Brock Lusby closed frames but had trouble striking late for a 181 to throw a 386 series.  Baiden Gallo was the lone 200 for the Crusaders as they shot 879.  Heading to bakers the Bombers led 2114 to 1774.

 

The Crusaders rolled a 725 in bakers to make up 23 pins on the Bombers.  The Bombers shot games of 192, 118, 202, and 190 for a 702 series.  The Bombers record their first win over Moeller in almost a year by a total of 2816 to 2499.  The Bombers move to 2 and 0 in the GCL and 4-2 on the season while the Crusaders fall to 1 and 2 and 0-2 in GCL play.

Joseph Geers made his varsity debut in bakers throwing a strike and two spares.  

 

Record Performances

 Keegan Barbee's 471 2 game series is the 60th best is school history.  Aaron Bickford 257 is 97th best game in team history and his 457 is the 120th highest 2 game series.  Game two's total of 1080 is the 39th best single team game in school history and the 1034 was the 115th best.  The Bombers Match series of 2816 is 61st best series in school history and was only the 68th time in school history the Bombers have crossed the 2800 mark.

 

Upcoming Schedule:

The Bombers finish December with the Holiday Classic on the 10th, GCL rival Elder on the 12th, and end the first half with the GCL Quad on the 14th.
