Bombers Can’t Catch Comets

The Bombers went to Mason Bowl to roll against the Mason Comets for the first time since 2017. The Bombers have not won a match against Mason since 2014.
Keegan Barbee, fresh off a top 5 finish at the Elk, led the Bombers in game one with a 212 total. Sophomore Brady Johnson put up a 197 and junior Tyler Brown put together a string of strikes before hitting a rough few frames for a 191. Aaron Bickford and Andrew Berkemeier threw complimentary games of 186 and 183. Mason in their home lanes, however, opened score fast with big games from Caden Graham (239) and Ogden Nijikowski (231). After one the Bombers trailed 1059 to 969.

Andrew Berkemeier went to the bag for a ball change in game two and shot the highest game for the Bombers with a 236 for a 419 series on the day. Tyler Brown recovered from game one to put up a 227 in game two for a 418 series. Keegan Barbee was lined up well rolling another 200+ game on the season for a 416 series. In 7 games, Keegan has shot only one sub 200 score. Aaron Bickford finished the 400 parade for the Bombers with a 411 for himself on the back of a 225 game. Mason's Caden Graham put up a 244 and Jack Riley shot a 234 for the Comets. Going to bakers, the Bombers trailed 2198 to 2025.

The Bombers could not crack the 190 mark on the day with games of 178, 184, 168, and 175 for a baker series of 705. The Comets put up a 787 in bakers. The Bombers fall on the road by a total of 2985 to 2730. The Bombers fall to 1 and 1 while Mason moves to 1 and 0 on the season.

Record Performances
The Bombers team game two score of 1056 was the 73rd best team game in school history. On the season, Keegan Barbee and Aaron Bickford have been a dynamic duo of clean frames in bakers. Keegan has turned 87% of all baker frames into closed frames and Aaron has done the same with 86% of all frames.

Upcoming Schedule:
The Bombers have a busy few weeks before the winter break. St. Xavier will play at home for the first time in a GCL tilt against La Salle at 6PM on December 1st. The Bombers are then on the road the rest of December with games at Northwest High School on the 6th, at Crossgate against Moeller on the 8th, and then in the Holiday Classic on the 11th. The Bombers then have their first GCL quad of the year at Northwest Lanes on the 13th and finish December off with an away match against Lakota West at Gilmore Lanes.
